Water Baptism is a powerful moment and one of the three main sacraments instituted by God for the Church, alongside Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Communion. When God institutes something, it carries His purpose, and when done in faith, it releases His power to bring that purpose to pass.

God’s purpose for us in Water Baptism is to leave behind our old sin nature and rise out of the water empowered to live His way. When done in faith—not as a mere ritual—the Holy Spirit works to remove the old nature, including sins, addictions, emotional struggles, and unwanted patterns of behavior.

Baptism is also a public expression of what has happened in your heart. As Romans 10:9 says: "If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
